Valie Natural Cosmetics are BDIH-certified

Valie Natural Cosmetics comply with the strict guidelines of the BDIH, the Association of German Industries and Trading Firms for pharmaceuticals, health care products, food supplements and personal hygiene products, and we are entitled to display the association’s BDIH “Certified Natural Cosmetics” seal. The BDIH requires its members to meet the very highest standards in their products and demands skin care products that are effective, natural and very skin-friendly. Members must pledge to use only carefully sourced natural ingredients with active plant-derived components and formulations based on the latest scientific research. BDIH-certified products are innovative, moisturising, protecting skin care products that provide wholesome, natural personal care.

Products with the “Certified Natural Cosmetics” seal use natural ingredients, such as plant oils, fats and waxes, herbal and flower extracts, essential oils and fragrances, from certified organic sources or wild collection.

In addition to the careful selection of ingredients, the ecological impact of each product plays an important role. Production methods must be environmentally-friendly and resource-saving; manufacturers must ensure that all the raw materials they use degrade naturally, that as little packaging as possible is used and that all packaging is fully recyclable.

Made with highly stable fatty acids

Our cosmetic products are based on natural oils and waxes. Valie products contain no plant-derived oils that can do more harm than good. Our products are made without instable oils from sunflower, safflower, soybean or wheat, as these oils contain a high proportion of linoleic acid which can cause skin to age prematurely. All Valie Natural Cosmetics are low in Omega-6 fatty acids.

No soybean products

Soybeans have started to take over the world and the impact of this important crop can no longer be ignored. This versatile plant provides animal feed, protein powder, oil and a variety of substances that are used in cosmetics. But alongside the issue of how soybeans are grown and whether they are processed in compliance with environmental standards, we also need to consider whether soybeans are suitable for human and animal consumption in the widest sense of the word.

The facts speak against soybeans: they contain a whole range of anti-nutrients, i.e. compounds which plants use to protect themselves against their enemies. These toxins include protease inhibitors, which disrupt the metabolism of protein in the body; phytates, which bind minerals, particularly zinc, and can contribute to a deficiency of these minerals; lectins, which enter the bloodstream from the intestine, and as glycoproteins can attach themselves to most types of cells, potentially causing cell damage; oxalates, which bind calcium and can trigger a deficiency; and a variety of substances similar to hormones, such as phytoestrogens, which scientists have been issuing warnings about due to their unpredictable effects.

With all these toxins, it seems hardly surprising that our bodies are starting to react strongly to soybean products. In the United States of America, soybeans are currently ranked in eighth position of the strongest allergens, with some scientists even ranking them up in position six. The increase in soybean allergies is so rapid that it is only a matter of time before they may rise to fourth position. More than sufficient reason for Valie AG not to use soybeans in any form in our cosmetic products.

Minimum use of preservatives

Valie’s natural skin care products are formulated to provide good stability: we use stable oils (predominantly omega-9) and waxes which are resistant to oxidation when exposed to air and light. A broad palette of antioxidants from plant extracts gives Valie Natural Cosmetics additional protection. We use only natural, organically certified cinnamon products to preserve our products – for the benefit of your skin.

Highly effective and gently fragranced

Valie Natural Cosmetics are made without synthetic fragrances and colours. Some cosmetic manufacturers use strongly fragranced plant oils and extracts, both of which comply with certification guidelines. However, even pleasant smelling essential oils contain allergens. At Valie, we deliberately avoid the use of strongly perfumed ingredients and our skin care products have only a mild fragrance. We believe that natural cosmetics should be gentle to your skin and have a gentle smell. The organically certified fragrance components used in Valie products allow your favourite scent to take centre stage.
